My father did this to my copy of Neverwhere once. I cringed and took it back.

Now I do not lend him my books ever. I will inform him of good novels that I think he will enjoy, but I do not ever lend them.

#this is kind of a big deal considering the lengths I will go to in order to actually have something in common with the man #reading is one of our only interest intersections #but people who abuse my books are terrible people and I hate them #seriously I had a girl return my favorite series to me in such battered condition that there was more white on the cover than art from al... #I was no longer her friend after that #and now she has two kids + a meth addiction #so there's that
