burning all regret and dread: a404error replied to your post: I really need to stop reading things…
I can still watch the Colbert Report and be amused, but the Daily Show tends to present things in a slightly more serious light/talk about more soul-crushing subjects, at least from my point of view.
I have no problem with cold! I would totally live in Canada, but for some reason I don’t think the husband would be cool with us moving that far away from his family. (And I would feel bad for making my mom feel like she had to pick between going with me or staying here with my dad.)
Reblogging because it ate my attempted reply and I keep on exceeding the character limit anyway. Hope you don’t mind, but having a conversation on tumblr isn’t easy.
I do understand what you mean, but I still find it refreshing, since it’s a bit more pleasant to listen to than the actual news, which normally involves even more preaching. (He will occasionally, but nothing like most sources… Personally, I’ve been finding it difficult to even pay attention to the news until people shut up about the republican primary, as everything I hear about any of the candidates just tends to make me rage… and I rather rage and laugh at the same time instead of just rage. XD)
I think parts of the country are fine, but the Midwest? Not so much. Even moving to the very edge, less than 100 miles from “Eastern” territory helped quite a bit as I finally stopped constantly hearing about how [everyone in a certain group is evil], [why I don’t deserve to live and need to go to hell already], and [why we should just bomb everyone else because “yeehaw we’re awesome”… when in reality the people talking don’t know shit about what they’re saying]. (Then again, the city where Dennis Kucinich, of all people, is loved to death, probably isn’t representative of all on-the-edge-of-the-Midwestern cities XD
Even this city is too cold for me though, I think I need to live in a desert, heh) If you don’t want to move, I… don’t know what to suggest. I’d say to attempt to educate people, but I know from experience that most won’t even listen.
Reblogging tends to be the easiest way to have an actual conversation on tumblr, I’ve found. You just have to occasionally delete bits of previous posts so they aren’t a million miles long.
And yeah, I know there’s not really much I can do, I’m just bitching on the internet so I don’t stab people to death. xD
And yeah, Missouri is…right smack in the Midwest, so I’d have to move quite a ways to get to somewhere that wasn’t full of hillbillies. Alas.
Dude, the Republican primary is ridiculous. =| I’m really really tired of hearing about it. I don’t know why they don’t just pick Romney already - everyone else gets their 15 minutes in the spotlight and then goes down in flames, and he’s still just hanging out in the background. That and anyone is better than fucking Santorum. (Except maybe Bachmann and Palin? I dunno, I have a lot less patience for crazy fundamental women than I do men - I guess I expect them to know better, to realize that they’re destroying themselves along with the minority groups they hate.)
V's tumblr, featuring the things she loves.
